Jerome Goddard grew up in a Christian home and was raised United Methodist. His father was a community college teacher (psychology) and his mother was a state employee, eventually the director of human services for Prentiss County, Mississippi.
From 2005 through September 2008, Dr. Goddard was asked to serve as a volunteer, part-time minister at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Byram, MS., a small congregation of about 50 people.

In preparation for that, he underwent "Certified Lay Minister" training offered by the UM church. Listed above are recordings of a few messages spoken at the church during that time period. Dr. Goddard would like to re-emphasize that he is not (currently) a preacher or minister; these recordings are from a time when he volunteered to speak/serve at his church during a time when they had no full-time minister.
